Jason Goodwin, from Paulton, completed a 15,000 ft tandem skydive in order to raise funds for the Wessex MS Therapy Centre, raising £923.

Jason’s girlfriend, Rosie, uses the therapy centre, based in Warminster, for treatments to help with her ataxia.

The Therapy Centre Director, Rosie Eliot, said: “We are so grateful to Jason for this tremendous achievement, he is a very brave young man. We are always in need of funds to help our members to lead a better quality of life through our therapies.”

The therapy centre is a self-funding charity, and offers long-term ongoing therapies for people with multiple sclerosis, their families and carers. It also offers support for other conditions to include ME, stroke, cancer and sports injuries.

The charity operates two oxygen chambers, a physiotherapy gym, several treatment rooms and offers yoga, Pilates, massage therapy, reflexology and counselling among its many therapies.

Jason said: “The skydive was incredible. The scariest bit was getting on the plane, but once you are on that plane there was no going back! It was a huge adrenaline rush and I really needed a stiff drink once I’d hit the ground!”

Sadly, Jason’s father passed away unexpectedly on the Monday, and Jason jumped on the Friday. He continued: “I did think about my Dad on the way down, because I know he would have wanted me to go ahead with the jump – I’m just sorry he wasn’t there to see me do it.

“But during the sixty second freefall at 135 mph, I gave the thumbs up because I know he would have been very proud of me.”
