In the strongrooms there are over three kilometres of shelving, filled with records dating back from 1189, the time of Richard the Lionheart, to the present day. Bath Records Office supports research into the past and present by making information available to the public.
All who wish to see this wonderful resource are welcome, and staff are happy to give you help and advice with your research.
At Westfield’s Fun Day on Sunday, 5th June, you can find out about the Record Office and discover the heritage of the local area and archivists will be on hand with advice on family and local history research. The roadshow will include an exhibition, featuring old maps, the chance to use historic seal presses and activities for children. The Record Office roadshows have been made possible by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This is just one of the exciting events booked in for the Fun Day. The S&D
Heritage Railway will be on site with an exhibition to mark fifty years since the closure of many railway lines and on display in the ring will be Punch and Judy, Susan Hill School of Dance and Jamie Woodland’s Black Belt Academy, among others.
Come along and celebrate this community event!
