On Sunday, 15th October, Radstock Baptist Church has a special speaker. John Porter and his wife are coming to tell the church about the work of the Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF).

The MAF fly Cessna and other small planes reaching communities cut off by difficult terrain from normal road or rail transport.

In today’s ‘connected world’, the irony is that never have so many people felt so isolated. Flying onto desert and jungle airstrips, lakes and rivers, tracks and roads, the MAF’s light aircraft and their mission pilots go the extra mile to provide a lifeline.

Working in partnership with hundreds of relief organisations, the MAF enables medical supplies, trained personnel, food aid, teachers and missionaries etc. to be taken to isolated villages, and is able to transport out sick and injured people to hospitals where they can be treated.

This is vital work, and much appreciated by the local people, for whom a journey by road can take many hours or days. Our service is at 10.30 a.m. Please feel welcome to come to hear the exciting stories of these little planes flying through mountains and over jungles to reach and help those in need.
