A well-used, popular walkway has been given a name to mark 25 years since the first homes were built in what's commonly referred to as the 'new estate' of Peasedown St John.

The route, which connects the older part of the village and the Orchard Way housing estate, is used by hundreds of people every day. The majority being parents and children walking to and from Peasedown's 550-place primary school. Over the summer, local Councillors, Nathan Hartley and Karen Walker, carried out a consultation to ask residents what they wanted the road to be called. Their proposal of 'Bloomfield Way' received lots of support.

Nathan said: "To be able to name this well-used walkway on the 25th anniversary of the extension of Peasedown St John is a great honour. This route connects more than 1,000 homes to the older part of the community and has been paramount over the years in providing an easy, comfortable walkway between the two.

"We consulted on the name 'Bloomfield Way', as the route also provides vehicle access to Bloomfield Cottages and Bloomfield Terrace."

Nathan and Karen would like to thank all the residents who took part in the consultation, along with Lyn Parfitt and Sheila Petherbridge at B&NES Council for their support with the project.
