At the recent AGM of the Tabor Ringers, based at Tabor Church, Timsbury, Angie Poole, leader, thanked everyone for a very successful 2019, with many engagements at new venues.

Secretary, Mrs Barb Spalding, reiterated this in her report, again highlighting new venues.

2019 saw seventeen engagements being undertaken, commencing in March at Age UK, Orchard Vale, Midsomer Norton and ending in December at Tabor’s Carol Service. A return appearance at Camerton Church, together with other local entertainers, raised funds for the local charity, SWALLOW. One engagement at Writhlington had, regrettably, to be cancelled, due to illness within the group. It was good to return to the Cheshire Home in Timsbury, who were delightful and made us very welcome.

The group were very well received at new venues: Age UK in Bath, Hawthorne Court in Keynsham and Radford Mill Farm, where we played at their Harvest Festival. This was a new experience for us and them, but proved successful.

Another new experience in December was a live broadcast; very different, nerve-wracking but enjoyable, on Somer Valley Radio. We also played at Timsbury Gardening Club for the Christmas meeting; this was again different, because we had to compete with a pantomime being performed just the other side of a folding room divider. However, we think we played well, as our audience were very receptive, even to the extent of providing us with a lovely buffet!

Angie Poole was re-elected leader, as was Barb Spalding as Secretary and Annette Rhymes as Treasurer.

We would welcome new members. No experience or knowl- edge of music is required. Playing is not strenuous and we have fun as we go along. Now is the time to join, as new music has been introduced and we can all learn together.

Rehearsals are held on Monday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Tabor Church, but you do not have to be a Churchgoer to join our group.
