After the success of last year’s first ever Great Village Bake Off at Peasedown St John’s Party in the Park, organisers have announced plans for its return this summer.

Coordinated by the Peasedown St John Women’s Institute, local people will have the chance to showcase their skills at this year’s festival.

Party in the Park Secretary, Jeannie Crawford, said: “We are looking forward to working in partnership again with the Peasedown W.I. to see a range of delicious entries in the village’s second Great Village Bake Off. It’s always encouraging to see initiatives like this coming together that allow people to practice and show off their baking skills.”

The competition is open to all and includes two categories of Victoria Sandwiches and Decorated Rich Tea Biscuits (for children in Year 6 and below).

Contestants can enter only one category, with all entries being delivered to the W.I. in Beacon Hall between 1.30 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, 11th June. All entries must be delivered ready for display.

The entries will be judged – with the winners of each category being named around 4 p.m. during the event. Kathy Thomas, Peasedown WI’s Great Village Bake Off

coordinator, said: “We are sure that many people will take up the challenge and we are looking forward to receiving their

entries. This is a wonderful opportunity for the men, women and children of the village to show us their baking and decorating skills.”
