A WOODLAND area will have to be temporarily closed after trees in the area were found to be infected.
Beginning in November, Greyfield Wood, High Littleton, is set to close for approximately two months as a large section must be felled as a result of being infected by phytophthora ramorum.
This is a fungal-like organism that can cause a wide range of trees and bushes to die.
Woodland Trust have been issued a plant health notice, legally obliging them to carry out the work in order to prevent the infection spreading further.
They also plan to carry out woodland management works, intending to improve the structural diversity of Greyfield Wood.
Woodland Trust will provide more information during guided walks on Sunday, September 28, and Monday, September 29.
