One hundred and eighty four players gathered for the Wells 4-ball Texas Scramble Open. The hard and fast fairways resulted in very long drives and easy to reach greens. The best nett score was an incredible forty nine by home club players Mark Edgell, Guy Timson, Sienna Elliott and Kevin Saunders, which included an eagle on the par 5 eighth.
The Captains’ Day Fourball Betterball was won by Peter Ramsey and David Cunningham with a great stableford score of forty seven points on countback from Ronald Gay and Ian Nicol. Ladys’ first prize was won by Katrina Foote and Philippa Gowen with and the Mixed prize went to David and Jan Hayward. All monies raised were donated to the St. Margaret’s Hospice.
The Seniors played Cricket St Thomas in the semi-final of the Somerset Bowl – and our team were 4-1 winners – they will now play Wheathill in the final.
The Seniors team lost away to Kingsdown 3½-2 ½.
Wells Ladies played a stableford competition for the Janet Elliott trophy with the ball running for miles. The winner with forty seven points was Gwyn Macdonald, the trophy was won by a lady who had never won a trophy before!
Tina Davies and Katrina Foote played Enmore Park at Saltford in the semi-final of the Somerset centenary plate, winning six and five and now play the final against Mendip.
The Ladies Alliance team narrowly lost to Burnham & Berrow 6-8.
Club night was won by Nigel Meeson with a 12-hole score of twenty nine points.
The Junior Competition was won by Sienna Elliott with 38 points – well done to Sienna, our player of the week.
The Junior Stableford was won by Charlie Sheppard with 38 points.
