Over the weekend of 7th–8th July, eight-year-old Maisie Tibbs, who attends Westfield Primary School, competed at the National Majorettes Championships and Team Selection.
Maisie is part of the Frome Fascination Twirlers Troupe and has been selected, along with others in the group, to represent England and compete in Selestat in France during October.
The majorettes receive no funding and so Maisie and her parents, Sacha and Greg, have to raise £1,000 for her to follow her dream and get to the competition in France.
A fundraising raffle is to be held on Saturday, 1st September at Mardons Social Club where there will be a live band with music from 'Brew', a great rock and roll band who will play all the great songs for you to dance to. Mardons have kindly made the night free entry to encourage people to attend and support Maisie.
If anyone would like to donate a prize to the draw or make a donation, this would be much appreciated. The family would like to thank local businesses who have already given prizes.
Maisie's family will also be holding other events, such as a coffee morning and a car boot, while Greg will be doing a sponsored bike ride, plus other events. Please call Penny Wilkinson (Maisie's Grandmother) on: 01761 419356 if you can help.
