The Salvation Army charity shop in Midsomer Norton’s High Street is this week celebrating eighteen years in the town.
The shop, which currently has, appropriately, eighteen volunteers, is currently on the look-out for anyone else who can offer their time, however much that may be. Julie Young, Manager of the charity shop said she had discovered volunteering after her children went to primary school.
She said: “I love my job and have made some fantastic friends. We are always looking for more volunteers from all walks of life – we have everyone, from retired people to young mums. Just pop in and see us to find out more!”
The money raised from the shop, which has been well supported by the public over the many years of its existence, goes to the local Salvation Army church at Stones Cross, which pays for activities such as the toddler group, lunch club, activities, and a local project that supports the homeless in Midsomer Norton and the surrounding area.
Every week the lunch club also helps those who are receiving foodbank vouchers as part of its work.
There will be special offers in the shop for all of this week to celebrate the birthday – why not go and take a look!
