The Methodist Council in London has reportedly agreed to reconsidered the proposal for High Littleton’s Methodist Church building to be sold to the village Scouts, so that it can continue to be used by the community.
High Littleton Parish Council says it understands that the North East Somerset and Bath Methodist Circuit remained committed to the sale to High Littleton Scouts, but had felt obliged to follow the legal advice given to withdraw from the sale.
Leonard Sheen, Chair- man of High Littleton Parish Council, said: “Whilst we must now wait the decision of the Methodist Council, this is certainly a step in the right direction and we are hopeful that the sale will be cleared quickly.
“I would like to thank all those who have helped to
raise the profile of this important issue and work towards helping the Methodist Church’s officers review their earlier decision to block the sale.
“In particular, I would like to thank the thousand plus people who signed a petition calling for a change of mind.”
