Last Thursday, five members of the Radstock In Bloom team travelled to Torquay to attend this year’s RHS South West In Bloom awards ceremony, which was held at The Imperial Hotel, together with three hundred delegates from the whole of the South West In Bloom area, to hear how Radstock had faired.

Guests of honour were South West In Bloom Patrons, Lord Julian Fellowes and Lady Emma Fellowes.

The morning session commenced with the Commerce, Tourism and Industry awards and Radstock had three entries: Radstock Museum were awarded Silver Gilt, while Radstock Co-operative Society and the Radstock Hotel were each awarded Gold.

Then came the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ awards, in which Radstock had several entries. The results of these will be announced at the Radstock In Bloom Presentation Evening this Thursday, 12th October at the Trinity Methodist Church Hall.

The morning session concluded with an audience with Lady Emma Fellowes, during which she talked with Jon Wheatley, Chairman of South West In Bloom and Council member of the Royal Horticultural Society.

A delicious lunch was served in The Imperial’s dining rooms, with spectacular views over Torbay.

The afternoon session commenced with the results for the main cups and awards. Radstock had entered the Ayre Cup category, and were rewarded with Silver Gilt.

At the Presentation Evening this Thursday at 7 p.m. certificates will be presented and the results of Radstock’s Garden and Allotment competition will also be revealed.
