Last Friday, Jim Barron and Roger Devereux ran from St Benedict's RC Primary School, Westfield, to the Children's Centre at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. You may, in fact, have noticed Jim, in particular.

The pair ran to commemorate Ben Halford's birthday, who would have been nine this year and to support Time is Precious' last ever 'Character Day', Jim ran dressed as Batman.

The run began by running around the playing field, with all the pupils at St Benedict's School before Batman and Roger set off on the tough route, including Dunkerton Hill, to Bath. With the sun beating down, the dynamic duo were spurned on by the immense support along the way from lorries and cars flashing their lights and blowing their horns, shouts of "C'mon Batman", "Na na na na na na na na Batman!" and "Where's Robin?!"

Taking just over two hours to run the thirteen miles, they arrived to cheers from Mr Lion, staff nurse, Jayne, and family and friends. Last Friday's run was part of Jim's challenge to run a minimum 5k everyday throughout 2014 and he hopes to raise £2,014 to help provide local hospitals with equipment and facilities to make life more bearable for children and their families whilst in hospital.

Jim's own daughter, Verity, became ill with a rare blood disorder, warm autoimmune hemolytic anaemia, and after spending long periods of time in hospital with his daughter, he has witnessed the fantastic work Time is Precious does.

After his epic run, he said he hoped that the smiles and laughter from everyone who saw them along the way may be emulated to sick children and their families whilst in hospital by donating to Time is Precious at: http://www.justgiving.com/365jimbarron">www.justgiving.com/365jimbarron
