Villagers in Chilcompton are being invited to share a picnic together!

The Great Get Together is a national event taking place around the country over this weekend and is about bringing communities together to celebrate what we have in common.

It was founded by the husband of MP, Jo Cox, following her death. Her murder, the recent Manchester bombing and London Bridge attacks were meant to divide us and the best response to this is to show how united we are. There is a ground-swell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together, and celebrate all that unites us.

So, we would like to invite the whole community in Chilcompton to join together at the The Great Chilcompton Picnic. This is a chance for the community to come together, with no agenda, just a chance for socialising, eating sandwiches and maybe a community game of football!

The picnic will take place on: Saturday, 17th June, from 11 a.m.– 3 p.m., at The Old Recreation Ground, The Street, Chilcompton. There is no parking, so people are asked to walk, if at all possible. Simply bring your picnic, something to sit on, a football/rounders bat, the kids and your Granny, and anyone else who would enjoy spending a community social afternoon together!
