The Norton Radstock Ramblers have a varied programme of walks for September, including the Somer Valley Festival of walks. Do come along and enjoy a walk with us!
• Sunday, 3rd September: A country walk with far-reaching views and a modern stone circle. Six-mile walk, starting from Kingston Deverill. 10 a.m. by phone box. BA12 7ES. Map 143 Grid Ref: ST846373. Leader, Sarah: 07869 591189. Meet 9 a.m. South Road car park to car share.
• Wednesday, 6th September: 7.5-mile walk from Heytesbury, walking parts of the Wessex Ridgeway and Imber Range. Walk starts 10 a.m. at Heytesbury by the Angel Inn at the east end of the village. • Saturday, 16th September: Somer Valley Walking Festival, Geocaching walk. An easy, three-mile walk – Pokemon for adults! • Sunday, 17th September: Somer Valley Walking Festival. Four-mile walk from Radstock, taking in Tyning, the former Somerset and Dorset railway line and Clandown, where the remains of the Fosseway Roman Road are clearly seen. • Sunday, 17th September: Somer Valley Walking Festival. 9.5-mile walk, starting from Radstock Working Men’s Club, Registration at 9.30 a.m.. Walk starts 10 a.m. – Heritage Walk via Woodborough, Camerton, Withy Mills, Clandown and Radstock. Taking in the site of a Roman Villa and the partly-restored Somerset Coal Canal. • Sunday, 17th September: Somer Valley Walking Festival. 12-mile walk with some challenging climbs, taking in Clandown, Paulton, Timsbury, Midsomer Norton and Radstock. Walk starts 10 a.m. at Radstock Working Men’s Club, Registration 9.30 a.m. Grid Ref: ST688547. BA3 3PR.
• Wednesday, 20th September: Limestone Link and Bath Skyline. 7-mile circular walk, visiting the graves of the ‘Last Tommy’ and Ralph Allen. Lots of interesting points along this walk.
