People living in Peasedown St John and the surrounding areas are being given another opportunity to find out more about dementia this November, thanks to a free information workshop.

Dementia Friendly Peasedown is running the event in partnership with St John’s Church.

The session will be held at St John’s Church, Church Road (BA2 8AA) on Tuesday, 19th November at 7 p.m. Nathan Hartley, Project Manager for Dementia Friendly Peasedown, said: “This is the final opportunity before Christmas for local residents to attend one of our free Dementia Friendly Information sessions.

“Over sixty Peasedown St John residents have now attended one of our workshops this year, which is fantastic!

“One in four people will be affected by dementia in their lifetime, especially those diagnosed with clinical anxiety in middle age; which is why it is important to work with individuals and their families to try and make life much easier for those who have it.

“Hopefully, this evening session will be ideal for people who work during the day and have not been able to attend one of our daytime sessions.”

Currently there are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025 and two million by 2051.

Jane Street, St John’s Church member, added: “We want to meet as many people as possible and make them aware of dementia, and how we, as a community, can support those who live with it.

“As well as hosting this dementia information workshop, the church will be working with Dementia Friendly Peasedown on other projects over the next year.”

Any member of the public who would like to find out more about dementia is invited to attend on Tuesday, 19th November. Refreshments will be provided.
