SWALLOW, a local charity supporting teenagers and adults with learning disabilities, has been given money from the Radstock and Midsomer Norton Lions club to purchase a boccia set for their members to play.
Boccia is a version of bowls which can be played by people in wheelchairs or limited physical mobility. The game includes a ramp which balls can be rolled down. SWALLOW members enjoy the sporting challenge of boccia as it boosts concentration and confidence, as well as being great fun.
Nicky Tew, Fundraising and Finance Manager at SWALLOW, said: “We are very grateful to the Radstock and Midsomer Norton Lions club for this donation; it is something that our members have been asking for and will be very well-used.”
