Local charity, PEOPLE, are moving premises from the High Street, Midsomer Norton to set up a pop-up shop in Radstock in the hope of finding a more permanent home for the charity shop, which provides crucial funds for its projects.
Providing Ex Offenders Positive Learning Environments opened their pop-up shop this week (Tuesday, 1st June) on Fortescue Road, Radstock.
Dr Jenny Clifford, CEO of the charity, said: “We are hoping to find a more permanent place to set up in Radstock, but for now, we are starting with the pop-up shop on Fortescue Road in the hope of getting some funds to be able to continue to give the much-needed support to people using our service.
“We want to thank everyone so much for the past ten years of supporting us in Midsomer Norton – we look forward to your on-going support in our pop-up shops in Radstock until we find a more permanent space.
“We have been really fortunate to have so many lovely customers, who, without their help, we would not have been able to do so many amazing projects with the ex-
offenders.
“Please continue to support us in anyway that you can.”
The charity are hoping that moving to Radstock will mean they can locate a more suitable building in order to continue to help and support low risk ex-offenders who have recently left prison.
Working in Bath and North East Somerset and the Mendip District, the charity’s aims are to tackle the problems arising from the realities of leaving
custody and re-entering the community.
They work alongside males, over the age of twenty-five, to reduce re-offending and promote safer communities whilst focusing on finding them supported housing, helping with employability, education and settling back into the community.
Working with the ex-offenders towards the prevention of future victims is at the heart of the work that the charity undergo. They are hoping that the move to Radstock will enable them to raise more money to continue to offer mentoring and further help to those leaving custody. The charity will be in the premises in Midsomer Norton until the end of June whilst the pop-up shop will be open on Fortescue Road from 1st June with their offices being moved to Leigh House.
If you, or someone you know, would benefit from the charity’s services, contact them on: [email protected] or visit their pop-up shop at Leigh House in Radstock.
