A group of children from Puddle Ducks in Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and Wiltshire have raised a whopping £10,590.67 for local causes over the last five years. This year, Puddle Ducks has raised £2065.09 for CLIC Sargent during the charity swimming event.
Bristol-based swim school, Puddle Ducks, hosts a charity event each year, in which children raise money for a local cause by learning water safety and survival skills, dressed in their favourite pyjamas. This year CLIC Sargent is Puddle Ducks’ chosen charity, voted for by Puddle Ducks customers.
When cancer strikes young lives, CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. From diagnosis, CLIC Sargent’s specialist care teams will step in, ready to help, support and guide. They provide a specialist package of support tailored to each young cancer patient and family. And if the worst happens, CLIC Sargent work with bereaved families to get them support, to help them cope with their emotional pain.
Swimmer, Riley Hobbs, raised an impressive £255 to swim in his PJs. Riley’s mum, Laura, said “I’m so chuffed Riley was the highest fundraiser here in Bristol and Bath. We supported Puddle Ducks PJ week because firstly, I really wanted Riley to swim in his PJs and learn to be safe in the water, and more importantly, CLIC Sargent do an amazing job, I couldn’t think of anything worse happening to a child.”
Rachel, from CLIC Sargent, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Puddle Ducks for raising such a fantastic amount through their Charity Pyjama Week, this amount could help our care teams support local families for two weeks through their toughest moments.”
Sarah, from Puddle Ducks, said: “We’re so proud of all the children, past and present, who have taken part in our charity pyjama event. They all came eager to learn and dressed head to toe in their pyjamas. Even after five years, this is still the highlight of our year.
“Here at Puddle Ducks we want every child to love swimming, respect the water and swim beautifully. That’s why we make sure our classes are fun and sociable for both parents and children. Our swimming programmes also ensure that children are taught vital safety and survival skills, which could save their lives should they ever find themselves in danger in the water.”
Puddle Ducks provides innovative swimming classes for babies, toddlers and children. Teachers focus on creating a nurturing environment, which supports independent swimming for children of all abilities.
