Westfield Parish Council has been re-accredited with a Quality Award under the local Council Award Scheme. Established in 2011, after the Community Governance Review, Westfield was first awarded the honour in 2012, which lasts four years, and has been successfully renewed ever since. Midsomer Norton Town Council now joins them, receiving the award for the first time. The Local Council Award Scheme, administered by the National Association of Local Councils, offers the opportunity to demonstrate that Councils meet standards set by the sector.

Midsomer Norton Town Council says the achievement recognises that the council achieves good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement. It is now reviewing ways in which it can

keep on improving its offer to the local community and welcomes input from local people and partners.

Westfield Parish Council says that all local councils want to serve their commu-

nities and make a real difference to the lives of the people that live there. It added that the Award is indicative of the transparency within its works and its deep commitment to improve the local community.
