CHILDREN at St Benedict's Catholic Primary School were given an exciting glimpse into their futures during an eventful careers week, which saw them speak to local leaders and professionals.

The week-long event, gave pupils the opportunity to meet a diverse range of professionals and discover the wide variety of paths their futures could take.

Among the school’s visitors were local MP Anna Sabine, member of the House of Lords Baroness Ilora Finlay, a personal trainer, a police officer and a band manager.

Each speaker shared insights into their careers, including the journeys they took and the skills they’ve developed in order to succeed in their roles, with the children learning just how varied and dynamic the working world can be.

In addition to the classroom visits, the school was invited by Bridges Company to attend a Science and Engineering session, where students explored exciting career opportunities in these fast-growing industries.

Hands-on activities and engaging discussions helped the children see the real-world applications of STEM subjects and understand how innovation shapes the world around us.

Mrs Croker, headteacher at St Benedict's Catholic Primary School, said, “Careers Week is about raising aspirations and showing our students that with hard work, curiosity, and confidence, there is no limit to what they can achieve. We’re incredibly grateful to all the visitors who gave their time and expertise.”

The school say that the children left the week feeling motivated and inspired, with some beginning to imagine themselves in roles they had never considered before.

They also say that the week encouraged students to think about the skills and attitudes they can develop now to help them succeed in the future. Their hope is that such events could one day lead to the next generation of leaders and innovators coming from the local area.
