We received a huge response from last week’s front page story, which asked for help to bring the national parkrun event to Midsomer Norton.
A representative from parkrun visited the town at the end of last year to inspect the proposed route within the new Town Park, but there will be a requirement to construct a link path before the project can move forward, costing over £6,000.
John Reynolds, well known for his huge fundraising runs and founder of Westfield TT, a free running group locally, is currently collecting donations from local runners – visit the group’s Facebook page for details on how you can help.
Paul Myers, Acting Secretary of Midsomer Norton Town Trust, told The Journal: “We’ve had a fabulous response to our community appeal, with more emails coming in by the day offering not just cash for funding the path, but also much-needed volunteer time to build it.
“I’m really hopeful that if we can continue to build this momentum, with the whole community getting behind this, we can get the new path built for Midsomer parkrun.”
