Scout District Commissioner, Tina Curtis, has appointed 18-year-old Darcey Green as Wansdyke District’s first Youth Commissioner.
As a member of the district leadership team, Darcey will work in partnership with Tina and the Chairman of the District Executive Committee to ensure that young people from 6–25 years are involved and engaged in every decision that shapes their Scouting
experience locally, and to empower them to share their ideas and have a meaningful voice in planning, implementing and reviewing their programme and opportunities.
Darcey, a student at Norton Hill Sixth Form, has been a member of the movement since she joined Midsomer Norton Scouts aged ten. She said: “I have had a brilliant time in Scouting, and am looking forward to sharing my experiences with younger people and helping them to share in the decision-making processes of their Scout Groups.”
District Commissioner, Tina Curtis, said: “Scouting prides itself on being a youth-shaped organisation, in which the young people are encouraged to contribute to their fun and adventure in a positive way. I am delighted that Darcey has taken on this
important role.”
