The pupils at Longvernal Primary School have been visited by several coaches from ‘The Sports Partnership’ over the last three consecutive Mondays, who have introduced them to many different sports, and the pupils have loved every one!

Through support of The Sports Partnership, we continue to work towards our aim of positively impacting our children’s health and wellbeing by running after school clubs for us, every day of the week!

All children loved the first session of tag rugby, even though there was A LOT of mud involved! It was great to see the children working as a team and learning the basic skills of tag rugby. The following Monday saw the children introduced to cheerleading and Frisbee; the children were encouraged to be creative and practise and perform their own cheers along with working on their aim when throwing a frisbee towards a target. Then, on our final Monday, the children participated in footgolf and athletics, which contributed towards them improving their individual fitness levels.

PE Lead, Jess Collins, explains: “The promotion of leading a healthy lifestyle and improvement on children’s fitness levels is still at the forefront for Longvernal, ensuring we utilise every opportunity to make positive changes to the children’s everyday life.”
