Residents are being urged to check their electoral registration details are correct to make sure they retain their right to vote in any future elections.
The annual canvass, which has to be carried out by law, ensures that Bath & North East Somerset Council can keep the electoral register up to date.
From Monday this week (26th July), more than 50,000 residents can expect an email from the Council inviting them to check and, if necessary, update their electoral information. The message will include a link to a dedicated secure portal to input information directly.
A further 40,000 households without a registered email address will be sent a letter in the post at the beginning of August. The letter will include instructions on what action they need to take, if any.
