The theme of this year’s East Harptree Flower and Craft Show, held at The Playing Field, Townsend, East Harptree, is Love Local - a celebration of independent growers and makers, and indeed the part we can play in supporting them.

On Saturday, 2nd September from 2.30-5pm some wonderful independent growers and makers will be exhibiting and there will be a Love Local trade stand where you can get contact information for a wealth of local players.

Back by popular demand from last year will be the Gifted and Pre-loved Stall, the ride on tractor, face painting, a kid’s craft tent and procession, and a raffle which includes a weekend stay at Harptree Tree House (https://www.canopyandstars.co.uk/britain/england/somerset/harptree-court/harptree-tree-house).

And of course there will be inspiring entries in adult and child categories (submitted on 1st September.) You don’t have to live in East Harptree to enter.

To give you a flavour, this year we have children’s categories including paint a pebble, any object made from play dough, clay or salt dough.

For 0-8 year olds make a crown fit for a king, a decorated basket or a bunch of flowers in a jam jar and 9-15 year olds can submit a portrait in any medium (A3 max) a small flower arrangement, or a decorated cupcake.

Anyone from 9 to 99-years-old can submit a poem of their own composition or a short story of maximum one hundred words – typed or handwritten on the topic of ‘A misunderstanding’.

Families or groups can club together for entries such as the jolliest scarecrow, a photo collage (of their own photos) on the theme of local food and upcycled item or a decorated pizza face.
