Patsy Parfitt, who has been a lunchtime supervisor at Longvernal

Primary School for the past thirty-seven years, has been recognised for her dedication and commitment following her retirement.

Headteacher, Carol Bazelly, commented on Patsy retiring: “It is very sad to see her go. She was here when a lot of the parents attended the school.

“The children all absolutely love her, so she will leave a huge gap here.

“Patsy did not want much fuss about her departure, but the school could not let her go without giving her a few treats as a thank you.”

The school, with 167 pupils, all gathered in an assembly, dedicated to Patsy. They cheered and clapped as two, year six pupils presented her with a bunch of beautiful flowers, along with an engraved vase with the words: ‘With heartfelt thanks for your thirty-seven years. We wish you a happy retirement.’

The children also presented Patsy with a huge card, made up of individual and personal messages from each of the pupils and staff.

She finished the assembly thanking everybody for everything that they have done and given to her.

Looking around the room, it was clear to see that Patsy had been a great asset to the school, with a lot tearful at the end.
