Mendip's motorists will have four road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But the news isn't too bad, with all of them only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A303, from midnight, June 12 to 11.59pm August 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 Podimore to Sparkford used as a diversion for Wessex Water closure of Steart Hill.

• A303, from 6am May 9 to 6am October 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A303 both directions Podimore lane closures/contraflow for Sparkford to Ilchester improvement scheme.

And a further two closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A36, from 8pm July 20 to 4am July 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 both directions Beckington mobile lane closure for maintenance works.

• A36, from 9am July 26 to 4pm July 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A36 Beckington to Chapmanslade stop and go for maintenance works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
