Following the two devastating earthquakes that shook Northern Syria and Southern Turkey, the death toll has now exceeded forty six thousand with many towns being reduced to rubble.

When Chelwood Bridge Rotary launched an urgent appeal for donations towards their Water Survival Boxes to be sent to the distressed areas, the Midsomer Norton & Radstock Rotary Club responded with a £1000 donation.

The boxes answer the need for clean water solutions and each is designed to supply critical survival items for a family of five and the means of converting contaminated water into safe drinking water.

The Grifaid Family Filter can deliver 200,000 litres of safe water, which is enough for each family member to have twenty litres each day for five years. Each box costs £150 and can mean the difference between life and death through drinking contaminated water.

The water survival boxes are funded by the Chelwood Bridge Rotary and donations, which can be gift-aided, can be made online through their website or by cheque made payable to: Water Survival Box Limited, Broadway House, Third Avenue, Westfield Industrial Estate, Midsomer Norton BA3 4XD.
