Ten-year-old James, a Cub Scout at 1st Midsomer Norton, was recently presented with a Chief Scout’s Silver Award, the highest obtainable by a Cub.
To achieve this, James completed the seven challenge award badges: Adventure, Outdoors, World, Skill, Teamwork, Team Leader and Personal during his time at Cubs. Working towards these badges saw him spending three nights under canvas at the County Jamboree in May, as well as building towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows, learning how to light a fire, playing lots of team games and much, much more. Speaking on behalf of the new team of ‘B’ Pack leaders, Rachael Edge, said: “The presentation to James, who is moving on to Scouts in September, was really special for us all as he has worked so hard to achieve it.”
James’ dad, Andy, said: “James has most liked meeting new friends and doing new things that he would not normally have the chance to try. He says that it has taught him to have the confidence to give things a go when the opportunity arises.”
