Exciting plans are being finalised for the Midsomer Norton Fayre and Town Show, which will be held on Saturday, 8th July from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at Gullock Tyning, along from the Sports Centre in Midsomer Norton, and will be the first event in the new Town Park.

The event will start with the Maypole Dance Festival, with over 100 local school children taking part in the main arena outside the Somer Centre, followed by other community group displays through the afternoon. Other attractions include a climbing wall, bouncy castles, face painting, Punch and Judy, street organ, balloon modelling, music workshops and much, much more.

Inside the Somer Centre, will be displays of Art and Photography, as well as the popular Tea Room with delicious cakes and sandwiches. There will be plenty of time to sit and chat and also welcome the fantastic Tom Carradine, who will present one of his Cockney Singalongs that have become a highlight of the country’s thriving vintage scene. The Town Show, as usual, will be displaying an array of many craft and horticulture entries to be admired – and it’s not too late to prepare your entry and bring it along on the evening of Friday, 7th or Saturday morning, 8th – see the website for entry form and details.

Then in the Town Park will be a chance for everyone to give their comments and ideas to the Town Council, headline sponsor for the event, on how this fantastic green space could be designed to meet the needs of the whole community. In the Park will also be community stalls, the Children’s Activity Marquee and a brass band.

After the success of last year, Midsomer Norton’s very own Music Festival will also take place in the lower High Street on Saturday, 8th July between 12 noon and 9.30 p.m. Once again there will be two outdoor stages – the Main Stage in the High Street and the Acoustic Stage in the Hollies Garden – both packed with a range of fantastic local talent, covering the best of rock, pop, reggae, ska, country, folk and more. Many local pubs are also running complementary entertainment.

Both events are organised by the Midsomer Norton Community Trust. For more information and full details on the line-ups, head to: www.midsomernorton
