Paulton Rovers had a fantastic Easter fundraiser as part of its regular community afternoon tea event, which takes place on the first Monday of every month.

This time around, the organisers, Sarah Delaney and Katrina Bolton, wanted to raise money for the local maternity unit after they had heard about the petition started by club member, Grant Johnson. However, given the uncertainty with the unit, the money is going to go to the Paulton League of Friends to ensure it is spent on Paulton Memorial Hospital.

The organisers wanted to say a big thank you to all the people that donated, including the brilliant prizes gifted by local businesses that helped to raise around £500. A big thank you also to Francis Mead, Desmond Loader and Jean Lockyear for their help in making these events happen each month.

The afternoon teas all began with a Macmillan coffee morning and have gone from strength to strength ever since. Sarah Delaney said: “It’s a great chance for local residents within the community to get together, over a slice of cake and a cup of tea. We play a bit of bingo, have a raffle and a natter; all for a good cause. We have been donating to different charities each time, but our aim is to have a set of twelve local charities for each month of the year.”

The next event will be held on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., and everyone is welcome.
