CROWDS gathered in the town centre at midday on Saturday, February 14, for the first ever Frome Pancake Dash.

Crêpes, coffee, and cake was the order of the day around the Boyle Cross, alongside a raffle in aid of Frome Skatepark Project.

More than 130 people took part in pancake dash ‘waves’, heading from the Blue Boar up to the Boyle Cross, flipping fabric pancakes created by the Frome Shed in heart-shaped frying pans, watched by about 1,000 spectators.

Mayor of Frome Cllr Anita Collier said: “What a wonderful event, even the weather behaved itself.

“It was not just a welcome break from the rain, it was a chance for the community to come together to do something silly and joyful to mark Valentine’s Day and Pancake Day, support the skatepark project, and enjoy time outside in some long-awaited sunshine.

“Thank you so much to the Frome Shed for making the lovely fabric pancakes, Frome Running Club for making the dashes run so smoothly, Frome Carnival Committee for all their help with the roads, The Blue House for hosting us and serving refreshments, our brilliant compère Cheryl Sprinkler, Rose and Perry for the crafts, Glitz and Glam for the face painting, and Posh Crêpes and The Treat Hub for the treats.

“And, of course, to Bonne Maman for supporting the event, the free jam, and providing the lovely raffle prizes.”

The Frome Skatepark Project launched its 2026 fund-raising campaign at the event with a raffle with every ticket sold helping it on its way to its £400,000 target.

Prizes included a hamper donated by Bonne Maman, and Frome Skatepark Project merchandise, raising £400 in total for the project.

Preliminary designs by Maverick Skateparks for Frome’s new skatepark are due to go on public display from Friday, March 13.
