Local Brownie and Guide groups using Rock Road Hall in Midsomer Norton are urging residents to help them raise funds for repairs to their base.
As reported in The Journal in September, hall users are hoping to raise funds to modernise the hall, which has been used by girl guiding for several years in the town.
Jenna Taylor, who works with the senior section of the Guides, said: “There are a few repairs that need doing to the roof and the rest is just cosmetics – fresh paint and modernising the kitchen, that sort of thing.
“We would really like to update the hall and have the funds to maintain it, so we can keep it as resource for girls in the area for years to come.”
There are several different units of the Girl Guide movement using the hall, who are joining together to raise the funds needed. Though the groups are still searching for quotes for the total amount of work, they are hoping to raise a target of £6,000 as a starting point.
The 7th Midsomer Norton Brownie pack have set up a justgiving crowdfunding page on behalf of all the units, which can be accessed via: https://goo.gl/fqssne should anyone want to make a donation.
The groups have also signed up to easyfundraising, where donors can search for online stores using the easyfundraising website and affiliated stores will donate a percentage of the price of items to the cause. To find out more about donating whilst completing your Christmas shopping, go online to: www.easyfundraising.org.uk and search for Rock Hall Fund.
As well as gaining donations online, the girls have been running several events, with more planned in the coming weeks. On 15th December, the brownies will be hosting a Christmas Raffle at the hall and on 17th December, between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., groups from the different units will be carol singing at Tesco in Midsomer Norton.
