Alan Bowhay, President of Somer Valley Rotary Club, has presented a cheque for £1,000 to eight-year-old Morgan Krisciunas, who suffers from spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, at the club’s dinner held at the Fromeway, Radstock, helping the Peasedown St John family get ever closer to their target of raising £15,000.
Morgan’s parents, Charlotte Cox and Leon Krisciunas, with the help of family, friends and the local community, are trying to raise enough money for a ground floor bedroom and wet room for their son. Morgan has been in and out of hospital for most of his life and due to delays, costs for the extension rocketed, with the family unable to cover the cost of the increase. Currently, his parents have to carry him up and down the stairs and lift him in and out of the bath, with the whole family camping downstairs when Morgan has not been well enough to be upstairs. He also suffers from epilepsy and is visually impaired.
The local community have rallied round for Morgan and his parents, with many local events and donations, including an 80s night at the Red Post Inn, Peasedown St John and a recent fun day which raised £3,600 at Sevvy’s Sports Bar, formerly Peasedown St John Cricket Club. The total raised so far stands at just over £13,000, so the target is now in reach.
Family friend and local boxer, Ami Peters, from Odd Down, a Postgraduate student studying at UWE, is organising a charity fight night on Saturday, 5th December at Saltford Community Hall, starting at 6 p.m. As well as Morgan’s fund, the event will be raising money for the Bath Community Gloves Project, which hopes to raise enough money to offer free boxing coaching in the Bath area.
The event will feature local boxers, including Ami, Dale Abbot, Torin Dunn and Darren Jones, plus many from around the UK. There will also be live music and a bar. Standard, ringside and VIP tickets are available from the Red Post Inn, Peasedown St John and the Full Moon pub in Bath.
