A COOKERY room in a local primary school has received a much-needed makeover.

‘Cookery Corner’ at Peasedown St John Primary School has been revamped thanks in part to a large donation from the Parent School Association.

Year 4 pupils were the first to try out the brand new equipment and facilities to make biscuits, with the school’s design technology lead Amie Kershaw, and Karen James, one of the school’s teaching assistants.

School headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: “We are now able to deliver our food technology lessons in an up-to-date kitchen that has space for whole groups to prepare food.

“Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.”
