A team of Mulberry employees from the firm’s Chilcompton base, Bridgwater factory and Shepton Mallet warehouse, took on the National Three Peaks Challenge over three days to raise money for Jessie May, a Children’s Hospice based in Bristol, the company’s Charity of the Year.
The team departed from Mulberry’s flagship factory in Chilcompton, last Thursday morning and travelled all day to camp in Fort William in Scotland, ready for an early start the next morning.
From 12th August until 14th August, the team walked Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.
Rosie Wollacott, who took part in the challenge, said: “The climb up Ben Nevis was very challenging, with 60mph winds and freezing rain, but the majority of the team made it up and down in one (very wet) piece.
“Scafell Pike on Saturday saw beautiful views of the lakes three quarters of the way up, but unfortunately, the mist and rain descended so there were no views at the top.
“Sunday in Snowdonia was much more pleasant and the whole team completed Snowdon, witnessing beautiful views across the hills and lakes and celebrating with champagne at the top.”
The team had the aim of raising £2,500 for Jessie May, which provides nursing care at home for children with terminal illnesses in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. They receive no Government funding and rely solely on voluntary contributions.
“The Mulberry team are still collecting money from their Justgiving campaign and sponsorship forms, but are nearing £3,000, beating their original target.
