It is twenty years this year since Radstock Museum opened its doors in the Old Market Hall in Radstock. Celebrations have been going on all year, including a summer of special events and a 20th birthday party for all those who founded the museum and for the volunteers who run it.

Children across the region entered the Radstock Museum 20th Birthday Colouring Competition and following the closing date at the end of September, museum volunteers judged the entries and chose the winners.

All the entries are currently on display at the museum until the end of the year.

During half-term, the entrants and their parents, along with the winners, enjoyed a birthday celebration morning at the museum, complete with birthday cake and refreshments followed by the unveiling of the colouring display and time in the museum to enjoy the Halloween Virtual Reality Coalmine Ride and pumpkin games.

Abi Robinson won first prize in the Over-7s category, and Henry Maidment won first prize in the Under-7s category, with runners-up, Ava Harvey-Nimmo, Isla Belts and Harry Brinkworth.

There are many and varied roles for volunteering within the museum; if you think you might like to volunteer, contact Nick Hall by emailing: [email protected] for details.
