Delays are to be expected for some NHS services today (18th January) and tomorrow (19th January) as strike action unfolds once again due to a lack of Government response.

The RCN are striking over fair pay and working conditions, but the Government say that their nineteen per cent pay rise request is "unaffordable".

Disruptions are to be expected over the next two days for services within the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, both of which will be taking part in industrial action.

Fifty five NHS Trusts are going to be affected this time around, compared to forty four in December. Further numbers will be striking in February, when seventy three of the NHS Trusts in England will be joining in the dispute.

Activist group 'Protect Our NHS' have also arranged a march in Bristol for health workers on the 21st of January at 2PM.

Meeting at the corner of Upper and Lower Maudlin Street, Bristol, BS1 2LY (close to the BRI), they will march up past the BRI and Park Row, going down Park Street to finish on College Green where protesters will hear from some healthcare speakers.

The group want to send a message to the Government to "pay NHS workers fairly and fix the staffing crisis".

They said: "join us, as representatives from BMA, Unison and other healthcare unions take to the streets to demand that the government meets with unions, acknowledges the scale of the problem and the need for urgent resolution of the staffing crisis so the public receive the healthcare they deserve."

Protect Our NHS also have stalls in the city centre opposite the Hippodrome that you can visit on Monday 23rd January - 12PM to 1PM and Monday 30th January - 1PM to 2PM.
