The works of nine artists will be on show in Frome during Somerset Arts Weeks, from Saturday, 23rd September to Sunday, 8th October.

In the historic Round Tower Gallery at the Black Swan (Venue 3), Angela Morley and Fiona Campbell will show art made from the wrapping and weaving of natural and found materials. Angela plays with functional-versus-abstract forms, while Fiona’s work blurs the boundaries between drawing and sculpture.

Also at the Black Swan, the Pop-Up gallery will host Nick Weaver and Cameron Scott, who use wood in very different ways. Nick makes practical, yet unconventional, furniture, often using reclaimed or found materials. Cameron will be displaying figurative relief carvings in lime wood. The carvings tell stories from his life – the people, places and memories that influenced and inspired him.

In the Black Swan’s foyer and café, Ellie Mawby, Somerset Art Works’ Creative Pathways Bursary Artist, will be showing art made from handmade paper and ink. Her work explores the themes of air, atmosphere and pollution.

At Settlers Stores, 5 Cheap Street (Venue 7), Nathalie Sergent and Zara d’Abo will be showing their practical, yet elegant, collection of tweed clothing, designed for ‘everyday adventurers’. Inspired by their time in East Africa, the clothes are made in the UK and finished by hand, with each piece expected to last a lifetime.

On the walls of Settlers Stores, travel photographer Max Milligan will be displaying dramatic photographs from Iceland, Ghana and Scotland. A fine art photographer, Max has published six books, and his work has been exhibited around the world.

At the Archangel, King Street (Venue 6), Kit Sadgrove’s street photography shows people in all their moods. Shot in stark black and white on the streets in Somerset and beyond, each image tells a story.
