Shades of an extended Halloween greeted

members last Thursday, as they shared a range of photos depicting tombstones at the club in Midsomer Norton.

Tombstones, graveyards and memorials from many locations, both local and worldwide, reflected again the extent to which members never travel without their camera, and never miss an opportunity to practise their craft. Well-composed shots often featured war cemeteries at home and abroad, inviting thoughtful reflection on the plight of so many.

More light-hearted depictions of a lady resting in a churchyard with a cup of coffee brought smiles, and also recollections that a certain judge had not really got the title ‘Dying for a coffee’!

The second topic of the evening, ‘Keys’ did not inspire as many, and although a range of traditional and modern keys – as well as alternative interpretations of musical keys, keyboards and Ash keys – prompted comment, there is plenty of room for improvement!

There will be an opportunity later in the month for members to give this another go, as a range of keys and other artefacts for members to work with will be supplied during a Still Life evening. Hopefully we can get some creative juices flowing freely then!

Our Annual Photographic Exhibition will be held between 10 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. on Satuday, 11th November in the Methodist Hall, Midsomer Norton High Street.

Drop in for a coffee, some home-made cakes and bacon butties as a break from your normal Saturday routines, and vote on your favourite works of art.
