QUITE a bit has changed since this month’s mystery photograph was taken, although there are several still recognisable buildings shown.

Can you give us any information about the area? Contact the editor at [email protected] if you can, or even if you would just like a guess as to where it is.

Last month’s photo, provided by Blagdon History Society, showed Blagdon Station, which was opened in 1901 as the terminus to the Wrington Vale Light Railway.

Last week's Mystery Photograph showed Blagdon Station, opened in 1901 to transport materials to build Blagdon Reservoir.

The main reason for constructing the line was to transport materials for the building of the reservoir at Blagdon, which was completed in 1905, and sidings were also built so that coal could be delivered right to the steam pumping station.

It was quite a walk up the hill to the village, but a vast improvement on having to get to Sandford to catch a train. It was closed to passengers in 1931, to goods in 1950 and now is the site of a private house. There were also stations at Wrington, Langford and Burrington.

The Harptrees History Society is always interested in old pictures of people, places and events in the Chew Valley and Wrington area. If you have any you would like to share, please email [email protected]
