Clearly the ‘Beast from the East’ is not a jazz enthusiast, for like so many local events planned for the first few days of March, Old Down Jazz had to be cancelled!

However, never daunted, The New Delta Jazz Band will be welcoming all of its many friends to their April session at The Old Down Inn on Thursday, 5th April – a day earlier than usual as their preferred room has already been booked.

Fortunately, the band’s guest for the cancelled March session is available for this revised April date, as are all the Band’s regular members. Trumpet player, Steve Graham, is regrettably a rare but very welcome visiter to Old Down Jazz. He is one of very few trumpet players who understand the New Orleans style so the audience should enjoy and appreciate a great evening of music.

Certainly the regular band members will enjoy having him with them. Regular reedsman, Clive Johnston, and trombonist ,Pete Middleton, complete the front line with Steve, and the band’s rhythm section, John Massey on bass, Colin Bushel on drums and Roger Bonsall on banjo, will complete the band for the evening.

Come along to The Old Down Inn at Emborough, near Chilcompton on 5th April for a great evening of jazz in the New Orleans style, when Steve Graham will ‘tap in’ the first tune at 8.30 p.m.
