Local artist, Roger Jones, decided he would open a new art shop in Midsomer Norton High Street, which opened on 1st November, his 74th Birthday.

Roger says: “I was hoping to make a few sales leading up to Christmas, but then, after only three days, had to close because of the pandemic. It must be some sort of record!

“I had a shop on the High Street this time last year, but the property was sold and I had to move out. That shop seemed very popular, with people telling me how nice it was to see something different in town; having an art shop, especially with local views in.

“So, I am trying again to give people a chance to see what I call my ‘pandemic paintings’ (Binegar Railway Station and the one I’m working on now of Old Wells Hill Radstock. These paintings are stopping me from going crazy in these very difficult times!”

Readers will hopefully be able to find Roger after lockdown where the Sue Ryder shop was, opposite M&Co.
