CHEW Magna Society’s much-loved Party in the Paddock returned on Sunday 12 July, bringing the local community together for an afternoon of summer family fun.

In collaboration with the Chew Valley Cricket Club, the community event delivered a true summer party atmosphere with entertainment, delicious food and drink, and a wide range of activities for all to enjoy.

An exciting programme kept visitors busy throughout the afternoon with a bouncy castle, tombola, children's games, a glitter station and performances from Congresbury Brass Band.

Delicious tea and cakes were provided by Chew Chat, alongside a sizzling BBQ feast from Chew Kitchen and indulgent ice creams from Chew Moos.

The Chew Valley Cricket Club opened their new nets with an official ribbon-cutting celebration, and the Church had a well-stocked stall with fantastic finds from jams to house plants.

Member of the Chew Magna Society, Pete Elliott, said: “Party in the Paddock is all about the community.

“Our events are free to attend and are more about bringing our wonderful village community together to celebrate what makes Chew Magna special.

“It was great to see the new cricket nets being officially opened, which was partially funded by the community.

“We were also pleased to give a platform for the Parish Council to speak directly to visitors about the Post Office and generate some much-needed funds.

“The Chew Magna Society is run by a group of hard-working volunteers who give up their time to create a really special event.

The society’s next event, The Last Hurrah of Summer, is set to take place on September, 26 2026.
