IN THE MIDDLE of a heatwave, the weather couldn’t have been better for the Paulton’s Party in Park; the last organised by the current committee.

Strong gusty winds did little to deter fun on the day as an estimated 2,000 people enjoyed a mix of live music throughout the afternoon and evening by Paulton Concert Band, the Paulton Ukulele band and Loophole.

Evening entertainment was provided by bands We Are The Lost Boys and One Part Wild, with many of the audience up and dancing.

The Classic and Vintage car display attracted enthusiasts along with vintage tractors at the top of the park, while children helped to feed and brush Pygmy goats brought along by Paul Wigzel.

Snakes and reptiles from Hilltop Herpetology drew some of the largest crowds of the afternoon with both adults and children getting ‘hands on’.

Paulton Infant School entertained in the arena with a great Dance Umbrella performance, a line dancing display with Mandy Eades included audience participation, with Stagecoach Performing Arts showcasing tasters from some of their shows.

Enigma Twirl Team wowed the audience with their skills and, as in previous years, Jamie Woodland’s Martial Arts display gave another great performance. This was a great mix of entertainers showcasing their many talents.

The event attracted a record number of stalls to tempt visitors to spend a little money and some for information only. Children enjoyed arts and crafts, have-a-go tennis organised by Cam Vale tennis club, or the ever-popular bouncy castle run by Aimee Gay.

Greg & Kelly’s bar provided for refreshments alongside Dave Willcox Jumbo’s Burgers, Spud Machine from Georges Garden and the Fabrizzias Ice cream van. The Alexandra Park Ladies (and husbands) produced and served delicious cream teas and cakes in the Village Hall ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy on the day.

An amazing display of art from the Paulton Art Club took place in the Village Hall with children colouring under the watchful eyes of library volunteers, and entertainment provided by children’s entertainer Matts Magic.

This was the last Party in the Park under the current committee who have decided to bow out after more than a decade organising the community favourite.

Chairman of the committee said in a statement: “After 16 Years acting as the Chair for Paulton PITP the time is right for myself and the committee to stand down and allow a younger team to drive forward the fantastic community event that we have all worked so hard to produce.

“I am extremely proud of how we as the small organising committee have built up the event from a small event attended by a few and all of the work and help that has entailed to get the annual event to where it is now; a successful family community event for Paulton which is free to attend.

"The committee would like to publicly thank everyone who helped make this a day to remember, from sponsors, stewards to cake makers and the biggest of thanks go to all our residents for supporting us."
