Children living in Peasedown St John had the opportunity to take part in a Summer Reading Challenge during the school holidays.

Run by B&NES Council’s Library Services, children across the local authority could take books out from their local library, and when they did, they’d automatically be entered into the challenge.

Peasedown Community Library Operations Manager and local Councillor, Karen Walker, said: “The Summer Reading Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure over the summer holidays, providing lots of fun as well as helping to prevent the reading ‘dip’.

“This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme was Gadgeteers, which was created in partnership with the Science Museum Group and illustrated by top children’s writer and illustrator Julian Beresford.”

The library is open: Mondays: 11am – 3pm, Wednesdays: 2pm – 4pm and Saturdays: 10am – 1pm.
