Community leaders in Peasedown St John said a very special ‘Thank You’ to a past Chairman of the village’s Parish Council.
Andy Fraser, who served for two years as the Council’s Chairman, stood down last year and has since retired from local politics.
After the Remembrance Sunday civic service at St John’s Church, Andy was presented with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates by Bath and North East Somerset Councillors, Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan.
Cllr Karen Walker, (Independent), said: “The community is extremely grateful for the two years of service that Andy gave as Chairman of the Parish Council. His attention to detail, inclusive approach to running meetings, and thoughtful nature meant that great strides were made by the council under his leadership. Projects were completed, financial spending was carried out diligently, and taxpayers’ money was well spent. Thank you, Andy, for your service to our community.”
Mr Fraser served as a Parish Councillor from 2011–2016 and two years as the authority’s Chairman during that period.
As well as his interest in local politics, Andy is also an active member of St John’s Church and volunteers at regular village events such as the annual Party in the Park festival.
Cllr Sarah Bevan (Independent), added: “Being a Parish Councillor is often said to be a thankless task. There is no financial remuneration, those involved give up hours of their time, sometimes long into the evenings. Andy’s patience, sincerity and
willingness to try new things gave an added joy to those who worked with him. Post Parish Council, Andy continues to take an active interest in our community, as
evidenced by his comprehensive survey of Peasedown St John village life carried out earlier this year.”
