Campaigners against plans to build on a sloping green field in Peasedown St John may have been celebrating prematurely last week, when a sign upon the land was erected to let for grazing.

They hoped that this was a signal that social housing landlord, Curo, had given up on plans to build homes on the site, having had to go back to the drawing board with its plans. Curo bought the land from a previous developer who had failed to get planning permission, facing tough opposition from residents and being turned down by B&NES Council.

Speaking to The Journal this week, Curo told us that they are still pressing on with plans to build. They said: “Our site located off Greenlands Road in Peasedown St John has become overgrown and one of the land management strategies under consideration was grazing.

“We had consulted with a B&NES planning officer, who has deemed the solution acceptable as an alternative to mowing, and a sign has been erected on site to advertise this opportunity by local chartered surveyors, Colston and Colston.

“We are still progressing our Reserved Matters application in discussion with B&NES.”
