Radstock Co-operative Society has generously donated £150 to the Chilcompton Playgroup. Mark Richards, Manager of the Chilcompton store, attended the playgroup on 22nd January to present a cheque to organisers.

The Chilcompton Playgroup is run by volunteer parents and carers who are passionate and proud of their commitment to provide a fun, safe and stimulating environment for pre-school children. During the sessions, children participate in varied activities, including arts, crafts and roleplay, which helps to develop the children’s confidence and social skills.

The parent-run playgroup meets every Tuesday in term time at Chilcompton Village Hall, where volunteers organise the activities and prepare healthy snacks.

“We are really grateful to Radstock Co-op for their generous donation, which will contribute towards the cost of insurance, crafts and play equipment,” said the organisers.

A spokesperson for the Society said: “We chose to donate money to the playgroup because they provide a much-needed service in our community and the surrounding areas. Many of the parents, carers and organisers use our store for their local, daily shopping needs.

“The playgroup relies on fundraising and donations to fund the scheme. As a co-operative business, we are keen to support community services, and with one of our guiding principles centred on education and development, the Chilcompton Playgroup was a perfect choice to receive a financial donation.”
